A Wed in Waikato team styled wedding shoot

Taking inspiration from Kelly Couco’s stunning one-piece wedding jumpsuit, Paula of The Style Federation, Yvette from Petite Posy Florist and Kate from Ryan’s Daughter Photography put together this stunning Bohemian bridal styled shoot to inspire a more relaxed look for the unconventional bride.

The copper and peach makeup look draws from the warmth of the florals and adds a touch of glamourous femininity against the pared back jumpsuit styling. When putting together the hair, make-up and styling, Paula Jacobsen, stylist and hair/makeup artist at The Style Federation  wanted to create something that would appeal to a non-traditional bride, someone who wants to wow on their wedding day without going full bridal princes. Paula says, “The style concept really began to develop when I saw the Kendra jumpsuit by Natalie Rolt. The plunging neckline and backless design is so elegant and feminine while the wide leg box pleated pants added movement reminiscent of a wedding dress. This jumpsuit feels like a realistic option for that bride looking for something different, but still wanting to feel like a bride. The bold colours of the floral art directly impacted the choice of colours for the makeup.  The strong colour for the eyes complemented the look of floral crown / floral necklace while the earthy nude lip soften the overall makeup look. While the eyes are strong, the soft whimsical half up half down hairstyle frames the face and balances out the amount of skin showing, making the look feel more effortless and relaxed.

Yvette created two stunning floral pieces for the shoot, the first being a stand-out artwork bouquet of flowers made up of  Bird of Paradise, Poppy's, Roses and Succulents and the second being a dual purpose halo/necklace that creates a stunning impact and shows the versatility of bridal florals can bring, with a bit of imagination.

In order to really show off the versatility of the styling and bold bright and colourful florals, Kate Ryan of Ryan’s Daughter Photography carefully selected locations that suited the look. Finding lush beautiful scenery and interesting light to tell the the story, balanced with a clean studio backdrop that really allowed the details to pop. Kate says that finding beautiful light to complement the hours of work put into hair, makeup, as well as using location to tell the story of your day are key elements in getting great photos. “When looking for a photographer for your wedding, look at how they show the story as a whole - details, emotions, light and location are all important parts of the story of your wedding day”
