Petal Passion leads you through a step by step guide on how to deal with these sometimes tricky little morsels - buttonholes!
On your wedding day there can sometimes be a lot of confusion and frustration around buttonholes, what are these things and how on earth do you attach them? It really is quite simple if you do it right, so below is Petal Passion's step by step guide to get you through.
WHEN THEY ARRIVE
Petal Passion label and pin each buttonhole and package them into one of our gift trays, so they are all in one place and clearly visible. We also supply you with spare pins incase you need them.
We attach instructions on the outside, which will tell you what side they are worn and which way.
THE HOW TO PART
- Hold the buttonhole firmly onto the lapel/or waistcoat on the LEFT, just above the heart with the ‘stem’ facing downwards.
- Using the pin provided, go from behind the suit lapel/or waistcoat and pin through the fabric, through the stem of the buttonhole and back through the lapel in a downward position.
- This should hold the buttonhole securely, but depending on what flower/flowers are used the buttonhole may be slightly heavier, so use the second pin to make the buttonhole more secure.
- That’s it! Easy peasy when you know how.
EXTRA HELPFUL TIPS
Make sure when securing your buttonhole that the stem is straight, especially for your photos.
If you are having trouble multi tasking with holding your buttonhole in place, pins in one hand and/or in your mouth and trying to attach it, simply take your suit jacket or waistcoat off and attach it.
There is usually someone (extra to the bridal party) there that can help; venue staff, your Make Up Artist, Photographer or Celebrant OR if you are really good, batter your eyelids at your florist before she goes and they will attach them for you!
We hope these 3 steps will help you.
